Sophie is a Grade 12 student at Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute. Her interest in chess began when playing chess with friends and it has become a hobby she greatly enjoys. She is excited to be serving CITL and looks forward to working with the team as President!

Tszhei is a Grade 12 high school student at Appleby college. He has played chess for many years but doesn’t play very consistently. His hobbies include robotics, model making, sketching, painting, and cello. He was last year’s marketer and is currently the vice president.

Tony is a Grade 11 IB student at The York School. He’s an ardent chess fanatic who has a profound passion for chess education and promotion. When he’s not riveted in calculating his next move on the board, you can find him exploring the realms of computer science, math, and music. Joining forces with the Chess in the Library team, Tony is eager to help spread the joy of chess to players of all ages and backgrounds. 


Jason is an eleventh grade student at Don Mills CI, and this will be his third year volunteering at CITL. A fan of chess since the COVID-19 pandemic, he frequents various online chess websites to solve puzzles and play matches in order to increase his skill. As the Tournament Director, he helps draft tournament details for in-person events and monitors online events to ensure that everything is going swimmingly.

Lars is a Grade 11 student at Leaside High School. He is very interested in programming, and has been playing chess since he was young. Lars’ hobbies include playing hockey and squash, video games, and sailing. As the executive webmaster for the CITL team, he is responsible for managing the website and keeping everything up to date.

Shylah is a Grade 11 highschool student at University of Toronto Schools. She first started playing chess at recess with friends. At CITL, she holds the webmaster position and is excited to join CITL on their journey to make chess more available. She also likes playing sports, coding, and game development.

Naman is a high school student who enjoys chess as a hobby, and graphic design projects. In his spare time, he likes playing cricket, reading, and coding. As the marketer, his objective at CITL is to promote the organization through the use of social media.

Victoria is a highschool student who will be attending Newmarket high school this year. During her spare time she likes to play chess; because of her interest in chess, she decided to start a chess club in her elementary school. Other than playing chess, she likes to play Tetris, watch video analyses on YouTube, and eat yogurt. She is excited to be a part of the Chess in the Library 2023 – 2024 team as the marketer.

Adam is a high school student at the University of Toronto Schools. He has been engaged in chess since childhood and rediscovered his passion for it during the pandemic. Alongside his role as Secretary & Treasurer, he possesses a strong interest in finance, actively participating in school clubs and community organizations. Additionally, Adam enjoys playing badminton, attending Model UN conferences, and programming.

Olivia Lisowski is a grade 12 student at University of Toronto Schools. She played competitive chess at a young age and has started playing online again this year. Additionally, she likes to draw, ski, play volleyball, and spend time with friends and family. She is excited to be a part of the team as a secretary and treasurer, and hopes that in the near future she can introduce an initiative to encourage more women and girls to play chess.

Howard is a grade 10 student attending Alexander Mackenzie High School in the IB program. He is passionate about chess and spends his time reading up on tactics to improve. His interests are coding, badminton, and ping pong. He spends his free time working with animals and volunteering for causes in his local community. This year, he is looking forward to joining the executive team as Secretary & Treasurer and hopes to use this role as an opportunity to bridge his passion for both chess and finance.
