Tony is a Grade 12 IB student at The York School. He’s an ardent chess fanatic who has a profound passion for chess education and promotion. When he’s not riveted in calculating his next move on the board, you can find him exploring the realms of information and computer science, basketball, and music. As the President, Tony is eager to lead the executive team and continue to spread the joy of chess to players of all ages and backgrounds!

Naman is a Grade 11 student at Maple High School. He enjoys chess as a hobby and is excited to work with CITL as one of its Vice Presidents. In his spare time, you can find him helping other volunteer organizations/clubs or playing cricket, ultimate frisbee, or running cross-country.

Victoria is a Grade 10 highschool student who will be attending Newmarket high school this year. Other than playing chess, she likes to do math. Last year, she was the Marketer for Chess in the Library. This year, she is a part of the Chess in the Library 2024- 2025 team as the Vice President.

Jason is a Grade 12 student at Don Mills CI who is excited to continue working as Chess in the Library’s Tournament Director this year. Aside from learning chess, he enjoys improving his music and math skills as well as watching videos on the internet.

Lars is a Grade 12 student at Leaside High School. He is very interested in programming and has been playing chess since he was young. Lars’ hobbies include playing squash and golf, video games, and sailing. As the webmaster for the CITL team, he is responsible for managing the website and keeping everything up to date.

Shylah is a Grade 12 highschool student at University of Toronto Schools. She first started playing chess at recess with friends. At CITL, she holds the webmaster position and is excited to help CITL on their journey to make chess more available. She also likes game development and playing sports.

Crystal is a Grade 10 student at Havergal College. She played competitive chess when she was young and has recently gotten back into the game. Apart from chess, Crystal likes to play geoguessr, watch youtube, and curl (the sport). She is excited to be a part of the CITL team as a Marketer.

Howard is a Grade 11 student at Alexander Mackenzie High School enrolled in the IB program. He is passionate about chess and spends his time learning ways to improve. His interests include reading, badminton, and archery. He devotes his free time to animal welfare and community service. This year, he is excited to join the executive team as a Marketer, and he aims to use this chance to combine his interests in chess and marketing.

Ryan is a Grade 12 student at the Crestwood Preparatory College. He is a competitive chess player with a ~2300 rating on chess.com and a ~2000 CFC rating. Beyond chess, Ryan is also fond of mathematics and badminton. As a member of the CITL team, he is excited to share his enthusiasm for chess and help promote chess education within the community.

Max is a Grade 10 student at The York School and an avid chess player immersed in the game, often contemplating what piece to move. Besides engaging in chess games, you can spot Max devoting his time to ultimate frisbee, skiing, and hockey. Combining with Chess in the Library, Max is ready to help you reach your chess potential. He can’t wait for this amazing year to unfold on and off the board.
